Leafs Game 5 broadcast live on Sorauren Town Square May 12

Game on! The Friends of Sorauren Park will be broadcasting Game 5 of the Leafs – Panthers playoff series live on the outdoor-movie big screen at the Sorauren Park Town Square on Friday, May 12. The game starts at 7 pm.

This public, free broadcast is made possible through special arrangement with Sportsnet and Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment. Special thanks also to Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation and Councillor Gord Perks. Note there will be no Snack Shack or food service. The water fountain is on for the season.

Please join us on the Town Square – now Maple Leafs Square – to cheer on the team at this family-friendly event. Go Leafs go!

Wall-E final movie of season, Sept. 24

Thanks to community support and our wonderful volunteers (and the weather), it’s been a great summer for outdoor movies at the park! The September outdoor movie, our last of the season, is for the kids. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and join us on the Town Square for the Disney-Pixar animated film Wall-E on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:15 pm. The Snack Shack will be open and donations, in support of next year’s outdoor movie season, are greatly appreciated.

Movie double-header with two Toms Aug. 27

Movie posters for Big and Days of Thunder

The August outdoor movie double-header tradition returns to Sorauren Park with films from the two Toms, Hanks and Cruise, on Saturday, August 27.

Big, starring Tom Hanks in his Penny Marshall-directed role as the teenager waking up as an adult, kicks off the evening at 8 pm. Then stick around for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in the Tony Scott-directed racing drama Days of Thunder at 10 pm.

All outdoor movie screenings are free, with donations gratefully accepted to help support event costs. The Snack Shack offers fresh-popped popcorn and a limited selection of drinks; bring your water bottle for the water-bottle filling station at “Owen’s Fountain.”

Hitchcock’s Rear Window next outdoor movie July 23

It’s Mystery Night for the next showing at Sorauren Outdoor Movies, featuring Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window on Saturday, July 23 at 9 pm on the Town Square.

Starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly, Rear Window is considered on of Hitchcock’s best films.

Bring a chair, blanket and some loose change for Snack Shack concessions and the donation box.

Movies are presented on the fourth Saturday of every month to September.

Outdoor movies return to Sorauren Town Square

Surprise marriage proposals have been known to occur at Sorauren Outdoor Movies.

After a two-year absence, Friends of Sorauren Park are pleased to host the summer outdoor movie series on the Town Square once again. Mark your calendars for the fourth Saturday of the month from June to September. The first move—the classic 1994 Jim Carrey comedy Dumb and Dumber will screen Saturday, June 25, starting at 9:30 pm.
