The Sorauren Outdoor Movie Season returns to the Town Square in 2024!

All movies are free. Come early for a pizza dinner fresh from the park’s oven. Enjoy fresh popcorn and drinks from the Snack Shack.

  • Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
    • Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Sacha Baron Cohen and Amy Adams star in this 2006 comedy about a Nascar driver who must reclaim his confidence and find love again after being challenged by a French driver and hitting life’s roadblocks.
  • Saturday, July 22, 9:00 pm
  • Vertigo
    • Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 psychological thriller starring James Stewart and Kim Novak tells the story of a police detective who must overcome his fears while solving a haunting mystery.
  • Saturday, August 26, 8:00 pm
  • Black Panther
    • The 2018 Marvel blockbuster stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, crowned king of Wakanda following his father’s death. He is challenged by a rival who plans to abandon the country’s isolationist policies and begin a global revolution.
  • Saturday, September 23, 7:15 pm – Family Double-Header
  • Turning Red
    • Set in Toronto in 2002 and directed by Toronto’s own Domee Shi, this Oscar-nominated Pixar animated feature film follows Meilin “Mei” Lee, a 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian student who transforms into a giant red panda when she experiences any strong emotion, due to a hereditary curse.
  • Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
    • This 1989 sci-fi family adventure stars Rick Moranis as a struggling inventor. His kids and the neighbors’ kids are accidentally shrunk down to the size of a quarter-inch (6 mm for the metric-minded), and must make their way through various dangers back to their house after being thrown out with the trash.

DEDICATION

The Friends of Sorauren Park dedicate our 2023 Summer Movies to the memory of Finneas Forbes, a student volunteer and enthusiastic member of the Sorauren Film Crew.

Before Finneas passed away suddenly in October 2022 due to complications with epilepsy, he brought his amazing energy to Sorauren Park as a smart, sensitive, funny, costume-wearing tornado who made an impression on whomever he met. 

In addition to helping out with our movie program – often while wearing a hotdog costume – Finn was a regular at the Sorauren Farmers’ Market, the pizza oven, and Spark Lab youth council.

Finn and his tremendous community spirit are truly missed, but never forgotten.
