Bake Oven

The community bake oven located by the Sorauren Park Fieldhouse was built in 2017 by Friends of Sorauren Park thanks to generous donors, skilled tradespeople and Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation.

Who can use the bake oven?

The bake oven is available for public or private bookings through Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation’s Bake Oven booking process.

Friends of Sorauren Park offers our volunteer assistance and support to book and operate the bake oven.  FOSP Guidance is for private (families, groups) under 25 people ONLY. The 2022 City permit fee is $14.95 per use and City provides insurance for $27. Please email Kathy at Secretary@SoraurenPark.com and she will send you the City permit with guidance on how to complete and submit; and the list of FOSP bake oven supplies available to borrow.

FOSP has a printed Bake Oven Use training guide and instructions specific to the Sorauren Bake Oven you can arrange to borrow to become a trained operator yourself. Copies of these instructions are also kept below the pizza oven for reference when using the oven.

You can also bring your own firewood and oven tools & supplies, however, the City does not own or maintain oven supplies – firewood, long pizza paddles, oven mitts, ash bin, fire extinguisher, iron pokers etc.

Permit holders are required to provide insurance and have a trained operator at their event. Bookings must be made at least six weeks in advance of your event. Details are available on the City website or you can also call 416-338-2614.

The Sorauren Farmers Market will be using the oven on Mondays to bake delicacies for sale at the Market, open 3 – 7 p.m. The Friends of Sorauren Park will be using the oven for its public events for the community.
