Sorauren Park gets a summer intern

Sorauren Park’s new summer student, Enrique Baniqued (on the bench), is briefed on his summer work by Friends of Sorauren Park board members Jorge Miguel, Nancy Kay Clark and Kathy Allan.

For the second year, the Friends of Sorauren Park have hired a summer intern to help with park programming and documentation. Enrique Baniqued will join the otherwise all-volunteer FOSP team to create special COVID-adapted programs for a summer like no other.

Among other duties, Enrique will establish an official YouTube channel for Friends of Sorauren Park, and begin curating and creating video content about the park, its natural and human history, and of course the people who enjoy its spaces. He’ll also help out at the Farmers Market, which re-opens July 6.

Enrique has experience as an art director, has a Bachelor of Science, and is a post-grad student at Centennial College in advanced TV and film production. This summer’s park programming will evolve depending on COVID restrictions, which so far have prevented normal events such as the outdoor movie series.

Enrique is hired thanks to Sorauren Park donors including FOSP director Chander Chaddah. Thanks also to TD Bank Group and Park People, who have provided a TD Park People grant that will help fund some of the programming this year… stay tuned! And please say hi to Enrique if you see him in the park.
