Rink: waiting for the really cold weather

The all-ages crew of Sorauren Hosers preparing this season’s rink

A hard-working team of Sorauren Park Hosers has successfully set up the boards and cleared the snow to prepare for this year’s natural ice rink.

Now the waiting begins.

It takes several days of consistent below-zero weather to allow enough floods to create a good surface. The current weather is tricky, with days slightly above zero, maybe higher.

Until then, please stay off the surface. Footprints (human and canine variety) in soft ground make craters that take a lot of volunteer work to fix, and delay the rink opening.

Watch this site or our social media feeds (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) for updates.

Thanks to the many volunteers who have signed up or renewed this year… perhaps our best showing yet. Hoser army!
