Diamond Jubilee medals for Sorauren supporters!

Congratulations to Liz Leason, coordinator of the Sorauren Park Sports Association; Ayal Dinner, founding member and coordinator of the West End Food Coop (Sorauren Farmers’ Market); and TDSB trustee Irene Atkinson, the “mother of Sorauren Park,” for recently being awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in a ceremony hosted by MP Peggy Nash.

In another ceremony last year hosted by MPP Cheri DiNovo, John Richmond of the West End Food Coop also received the honour. (BTW: Did you see John and the Sorauren Farmers’ Market mentioned in the New York Times recently?!)

The Diamond Jubilee Medal is awarded to distinguished Canadians for outstanding service to the community, in honour of the Queen’s 60th anniversary on the throne.

Thanks Liz, Ayal, Irene and John for contributing so much to Sorauren Park and the community! Congrats to the many other community members also recognized at the ceremony.
