Public meeting for 383 Sorauren condo application

A developer is making an application to build an 11-storey condo at 383 Sorauren Ave., the lot between Downtown Lumber and the Robert Watson Lofts. The proposed building would have approximately 160 units, with a mix of studio, one bedroom, two bedroom and townhouse units, with two levels of underground parking. It would be taller than the next-door Watson Lofts by about 6 metres (20 ft.).

A zoning bylaw amendment and a Site Plan application will be filed with the City.

Councillor Gord Perks has called a community meeting about the proposal:

Monday, Sept. 10, 7 – 9 p.m., Emmanuel Howard Park United Church, 214 Wright Ave.

This is a BIG opportunity for the community to see if development fees or charges can be applied to funding the Wabash Community Center project. Seeing as the area has few re-development opportunities left in the immediate area of the old linseed oil building, any redevelopments that can contribute to seeing the building saved and re-purposed as a community center should be taken advantage of. Hope to see many in attendance tonight.
